Katie grew up in Tacoma and graduated from the University of Washington in 2012. She couldn’t find a job that satisfied her craving to encounter new people and hear their stories, but somewhere along the line found that hair would allow her to do the things she values. Working with her hands, making people feel good, and being creative on a daily basis is important to her. She ended up enrolling in the cosmetology program at Gary Manuel and is now loving her career change. Katie chose to work at Vasuda because of our understanding and skill for all hair types. In a world divided in so many ways, she thought it would be beneficial to work in an unbiased arena, in a place that bridges gaps. She entertains the line of thinking that a hair appointment should be a treat and not a chore. She places equal importance on the shampoo and styling/ cutting/ coloring portion of the service. Shampoos are the best part of the service, after all!
